Let’s get back to the study of Cornell University. The survey involved 147 adults, who had no problems with excess weight and who had a body mass index within the normal limits. They were asked to answer a number of questions that would help scientists identify the main regularities.
As a result, the survey allowed to draw the following conclusions regarding the lifestyle and habits of slender people.
THEY NEVER SKIP BREAKFAST
96% of the participants answered that they have breakfast every day and consider this meal to be the most important for the whole day. Scientists have confirmed this assumption of respondents and clarified that those who are accustomed to breakfast with a cup of coffee on the run, are more prone to overeating during lunch.
As we know, the closer a meal is to the evening, the longer and more difficult takes to digest it.
In addition, breakfast helps our body wake up and start internal processes of work, preparing it for subsequent loads and possible stress. Note that breakfast should not only be regular, but also nutritious: eggs and cereals – yes, a sandwich with white bread and ham – no.
THEY ARE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE
42% of study participants confirmed that they do sports 5 or more times a week. At that, trainings were considered to be not only two-hour exercises with dumbbells in the gym, but also a bike trip with friends, long promenades in the park with children and regular (!) morning exercises.
Sport is necessary for our health, since it:
- helps our body cope with stress,
- reduces the risk of diabetes,
- reduces cravings for sweets through the release of endorphins,
- promotes the formation of useful habits.
THEY WEIGH THEMSELVES
About 50% of respondents said that they weigh in an average of once a week. As we know, daily weighing is senseless. Our weight can fluctuate throughout the day several times, depending on many indicators.
While as the weekly weigh-in, on the contrary, will be to your advantage, especially if you accompany it with body volumes measurements. Together they will be a good tool for tracking changes in your body.
This will help you understand how and why you added or lost weight (either your muscle mass increased or the fatty layer decreased).
THEY EAT WHATEVER THEY WANT
44% of the survey participants said that they do not adhere to any strict restrictions on food. They try not to eat foods from processed meat and white flour. They consume more vegetables and fruits, exclude fatty sauces and soda…
In general, they comply with the basic healthy eating rules. However, the important thing is that their behavior is not limited to strict limits. That is, if they suddenly after work want to have a harmful eclair, and not a vegetable salad, they can afford it.
The main thing is that such moments are an exception to the rules and really bring pleasure. Such weaknesses should be a holiday, and not a routine or a reward. Balance and balance again!
THEY EAT CONSCIOUSLY
There is nothing worse than a spontaneous snack. It not only knocks down the diet and disrupts metabolism, but it can also turn into an unexpected burger in a nearby snack bar. 74% of the respondents told the researchers that they never kept to any weight loss diets, and 92% confirmed that they always carefully analyze their food intake.
The latter means that before you swallow everything that lies on your plate, you should evaluate food by several criteria:
- the volume,
- the ratio of proteins, carbohydrates and fiber,
- the desire,
- the needs of your body at this moment.
Over time, people learn to listen to their body and listen to its desires, monitor meals and servings, and also refuse harmful products in time.
